This is the year you write your novel! Start your journey on the right foot with the following:

• A quick exploration of *why* you want to write and what you hope to get out of writing a novel
• Tools for writing (software often used by authors, etc)
• Productivity (finding your writing routine, staying productive) with a look at the writing routines of several authors
• Inspiration and where to find it
• Resources (writing groups, books, podcasts, blogs, local and national organizations, etc)
• Very brief overview of publishing options

About the Teacher

Angela grew up in rural Northern California building forts in the woods where she devoured Nancy Drew mysteries. She earned degrees in economics and public administration, and in graduate school studied six months in Paris, sparking a lifelong interest in French culture. After 11 years as a congressional investigator, Angela realized she was more fascinated by the stories at the edges of her investigations—the decrepit exercise equipment in the ladies room of a Czech oil company; the curious number of framed photographs of women on a nuclear weapons official’s desk; the stupendous speed by which a particular Agriculture undersecretary inhaled chili dogs—than by the policies she evaluated. She returned to the west coast to explore the world and her imagination through magazine stories and fiction.

Class Policy: This class requires a minimum of 5 students. Notification of cancellation will be sent within 3 days before class start time if minimum is not met. In the case of shop cancellation, all registered students will be refunded the class fee. Any additional fees including shipping of materials will not be refunded. Student cancellations, missed classes or no-shows can not be refunded, exchanged or transferred.

COVID POLICY: Masks are currently optional but highly encouraged. Please bring your own mask. Please do not attend class if you are not feeling well or have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 5 days of class time.
